If you are stationary for a good deal of the time then any system would work but the transformer powered OPERATIONHEATJAC® TRO will probably be the most efficient. If you need to be on the move, then either the OPERATIONHEATJAC® BTR series or the OPERATIONHEATJAC® AA models will work. With the OPERATIONHEATJAC® BTR series, you may need to purchase an additional battery to always have one available, depending upon the length of your shift, after the other is depleted, or consider purchasing the larger capacity 11.1V battery, either one or two.
Absolutely not. The insulating pads are made from a material called Temptrol® which can reflect 95% of the radiant heat produced. The other component is polyester stuffing which also provides a degree of protection. The heat from this device is meant to be directed outward, between one’s scrub shirt and scrub warm-up jacket or surgical gown. The heating elements do get hot and should NEVER be used facing the skin.
When the OPERATIONHEATJAC® is made narrower, additional tension is placed upon the elastic. Start out with the garment on the looser side and see what happens when rolled.
Yes. First remove the heating pads (see the instructions for use), and the insulating pads. Launder it with a cold-water, gentle cycle, and then hang dry. After dry, replace the insulating pads and heating pads, or just the insulating pads if using the air-activated model.
The OPERATIONHEATJAC® is meant to be a personal item brought into the OR unexposed, over a scrub top, and under a scrub warm-up jacket or surgical gown or whatever you typically wear in an effort to keep warm. It can also be worn over a tee shirt and then under a scrub top, with using the Remote FOB, but this set-up may be a little cumbersome to do a battery change.
The OPERATIONHEATJAC® is composed of materials that are AORN acceptable, but for the most part, it is to be worn unexposed to the OR and therefore it also meets with AORN requirements. There is no endorsement of this garment, at the present time by AORN.
Yes, while the OPERATIONHEATJAC® BTR series uses smaller heating pads composed of a different FabRocTM formulation than the OPERATIONHEATJAC® TRO heating pads, and a 1.3 mm right angle plug to go into the socket of the battery, or to go into the socket of the P25S13 adapter to use the 11.1V, 5200 mAh battery, you can purchase our S25S13 adapter to use with the 12V Transformer and 4 Level Controller. The OPERATIONHEATJAC® TRO model has larger FabRocTM heating pads with a socket to receive the 2.5 plug of the 4-level controller. This model cannot be powered off of the batteries, as it will be underpowered.
Yes, if there are days you are more stationary and days where you need to be more on the move, you can purchase both sets of heating pads and use them when appropriate, or you can simply purchase the OPERATIONHEATJAC® BTR. You will then need batteries, charger and the Transformer Set.
OPERATIONHEATJAC® BTR Series
The battery is designed to go through 500 cycles of charging and use.
An additional battery can be purchased and kept charged and available for when the first battery runs out. The first battery can be re-charged and will be available when the second battery runs out. The time to charge the 11.1V, 2600 mAh battery is less than the duration of use on the high setting, (number 3). The same holds true for the 11.1V, 5200 mAh battery. If the battery is used on setting 2 or 1, the heating duration will be increased but lower and still possibly very adequate temperatures for your work environment may be achieved. The thicker the scrub warm-up jacket or surgical gown worn over the OPERATIONHEATJAC® BTR the better the lower settings will perform.
The battery has internal controls to help maintain the temperature output. As the battery is depleted, more energy is required to keep the output (and temperature) constant. As a result of this the duration of going from 9 to 8 or 8 to 7, is longer than going from 4 to 3 or 3 to 2.
Flashing numbers is just an indicator that the battery is almost completely discharged.
In order to get adequate temperatures and durations off of the 11.1V, 2600 mAh battery, or 11.1V, 5200 mAh battery, the heating pads needed to be reduced in size.
Because of their smaller size and hence, smaller surface area, higher temperatures are required to do the job.
Yes, you can expect to see shorter heating durations if the battery is also being used to charge your phone or tablet.
This model was created for an anesthesiologist or a CRNA who will be sitting behind the drapes for hours on end in the freezing confines of an OR.
The OPERATIONHEATJAC® TRO can be unplugged within a fraction of a second and then plugged back in when needed. The setting on the controller will be maintained.
These warmers throw off most of their heat from one side and this is the side that appears to have what looks like a tire tread pattern on it. This side is to be facing outward against the mesh pocket in order to heat up the space between the scrub top and the scrub warm-up jacket or surgical gown.
The air-activated warmers are a single use product. They should be let to cool off prior to throwing them out in the trash. They will not harm the environment.
They can be removed from the pockets and gently shaken. Try to keep the contents evenly distributed to have the most surface area, and then replace the warmers into the pockets.
